Lets get a review on:
'Infestation: Survivor Stories' is, to quote, "A zombie survival horror MMO. Based five years in the future following a horrendous viral outbreak of apocalyptic proportions that destroyed 95% of the world’s population, you must survive against all odds. Scavenge, defend yourself, band with others, or die in the process – your life is in your own hands."
The game has had a lot of bad reputation as well as Hammer Point studios. These consist of trademark ordeals, bad hacker problems, lies about content, copy and pasting Terms and Conditions from LoL and fanboys of a mod from the same genre mocking it. But recently, I bought the game due to it only being £3 in the steam summer sale. I thought, if I do not like it, I can have a small amount of fun by running scripts on it.
My first impressions were not that great, the ground textures were not the best I have seen and the amount of walking I had to do before I got there was boring. When I face my first zombie I was killed in 3 hits after hitting it around 10 billion times with my torch. When I died I looked at the survivor menu. I noticed that I had to wait about an hour to use him again. So I contacted one of my friends and asked if they wanted to play. He said sure and showed me some of the games awesome mechanics.
Just to list a few:
- Zombies only take a decent amount of damage if hit in the head. This being nice and realistic.
- Sounds are layered and always change as you walk around.
- Ammo is extremely rare and food and water is nescessary.
- Melee weapons are necessary or you will be wasting bullets.
- Killing zombies gives you XP which allows you to upgrade your character with abilities, such as more health and more melee damage.
- Stealth is a key factor if you want to survive zombies and humans alike.
- You actually blend in with the shadows, unlike another mod in which your guy practically glows in the dark.
- Bullets need to count.
- They have dealt with the hacker problem quite well. People are banned on servers lall the time
I now think the game is possibly one of my favourites! I go on it everyday and play with a group of 7 and we go hunting, looting and running from the blood curdling screams of the loco campsite woods area at night.
There are a few cons to the game:
- The ground textures are not the best.
- There could be more animations.
- The community could be better than just shoot or be shot.
That is my terrible review, I will probs update it as the day goes on.
What is your opinion?
